About David Jarrett

David Jarrett specializes in fine art (gallery work), travel and exterior architectural photography. His interest in photography started at the University of Colorado, where he was chief photographer on the Coloradan Yearbook for three years. At that time he concentrated on available light candid photography, scenics and architectural images—a focus he retains to this day.

Upon graduation, Mr. Jarrett went into the investment business in New York and dropped photography until the early 1980s, when he began doing occasional magazine work for Our World, In Touch, Mandate, Blue Boy, HIM, Outing Travelogue, Playguy and other periodicals. Mr. Jarrett has had many images appear in Out (including the premier issue in 1992) and several of Sydney appeared in Genre.

Since 1990 Jarrett has devoted substantially more time to photography, with works exhibited in Provincetown, MA—Jones & Hobbs Gallery (1990), Stellwagen Gallery (1991), Gallery Matrix (two one-man exhibits, 1992 and 1993), and Icon Gallery (1996). In addition, in 1992 his images appeared in group shows in New York City at both the Leslie/Lohman Gallery (Now, The Leslie-Lohmnan Museum) and Ganymede Gallery. In 1993 he exhibited several images at Puchong Gallery and was represented at group shows at Leslie/Lohman in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2003, 2008 and 2010.

An illustrated article on Jarrett’s photography appeared in the The Archive: The Journal of the Leslie-Lohman Museuem: Spring 2008 entitled “Blink of An Eye: The Photographic Art of David Jarrett.” One of Jarrett's photographs was included in Treasures of Gay Art from the Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation, page 203.

Commercially, hundreds of his color images have been published worldwide—in editorial and advertising—marketed through Getty Images (formerly through Photonica). He was well represented in New York, Metropolis of the American Dream, a large photo book on Manhattan; one full-page image of his appeared on the title sheet.

Mr. Jarrett is a volunteer at the Leslie-Lohman Museum in New York City and is formerly co-chairman of the advisory committee. He has written numerous articles on artists for The Archive: The Journal of the Leslie-Lohman Museuem and many other periodicals.
